Houston-based multidisciplinary artist Dylan Beckman will kick off the 2026-2027 Exhibition Season at Goodall Gallery with "The How and Why Gallery." This multi-media exhibition presents sculptural objects, photographs, and installations to reference familiar instructional methods used in the education system. Inspired in part by unreliable memories and contemporary debates surrounding education, history, and culture, Beckman investigates how trust and belief are shaped by repetition, presentation, and participation.
Using found materials alongside handmade and fabricated elements, Beckman's work is recognizable yet, at times, incomplete. Contradictory or distorted information appears in familiar formats, prompting viewers to question how knowledge is constructed and accepted. This playful body of work examines the ways belief, persuasion, and control intersect in everyday life.

Artist:
A departure from Beckman's use of the object and notions of truth, The Architecture of Memory addresses memory's shifting terrain in relation to dreams and the passing of time. Pulling from family archives and personal photographs, Moore combines photography, printmaking, and paint to create multilayered collages. Through the physical process of fragmentation and reconstruction, lines between what is real, what is remembered, and what has been lost are blurred.
Originally from Richmond, VA, Ellen Moore Osbourne holds a BFA from East Carolina University and an MFA from Louisiana State University. Her art has been featured in solo, group, and juried exhibitions across 37 states and internationally. Today she lives and works in Charlottesville, where she serves as Executive Director of Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle and maintains her practice as a printmaker, photographer, and mixed media artist.
